More than 50 classes available to students wishing to speed up their journey to a degree

Did you know you can take up to four units to count towards your degree with San Francisco State University’s Winter Session? Winter break is the perfect time to chill inside and take courses that can make your spring semester a breeze. It’s also the perfect opportunity to jump-start your future by making quick progress toward your graduation.

Winter Session 2023 runs from Jan. 3 through Jan. 23, with admission available to San Francisco State students as well as the greater community. More than 50 classes will be offered hybrid and online style, making them easily accessible to anyone in the Bay Area and beyond. Registration opens Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Studies show that the longer students take to graduate the less likely it becomes that they will complete a degree. That’s why helping students graduate faster is such an important part of the California State University’s (CSU) Graduation Initiative 2025, which aims to boost graduation rates at CSU campuses like SF State.

“SF State is committed to student success though eliminating barriers and creating pathways to degree completion, and Winter Session offers students just the boost some might need,” said Alex Hwu, dean of the University’s College of Extended Learning. “All our courses are either online or hybrid and use an accelerated format so students complete a full semester of work in a matter of three weeks.”
