Walk, Run & Roll around campus

Students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to participate in the third annual Student Life 5K Walk, Run & Roll on Sunday, April 13.

The SF State Gator jogs past the cheerleading team and crosses the finish line at 2013’s Student Life 5K.

Participants can sign up individually or in teams of four and disability resources are available for early registries. The 5K’s route will take participants twice around SF State’s campus, and Malcolm X Plaza will serve as the start and finish line.

The Student Life 5K encourages the campus community to get active. Each participant will receive a gift bag and the first 100 registrants will get a free T-shirt. This Sunday event allows people of all abilities to utilize the campus facilities on a day when classes are not in session.

“This is our opportunity to engage a larger community,” said Dean of Students Joseph Greenwell. “Faculty, staff and students are of course welcome, but we want to encourage parents, alumni and friends to participate as well.”

The campus community is also encouraged to volunteer at the 5K, an opportunity to get involved with Student Life while earning community service hours. Volunteers are needed to help with registration, route monitoring and clean up.

Online registration for teams and individuals is available until Friday, April 11 at noon. On-site registration will open at 8 a.m. on April 13 in Malcolm X Plaza. The 5K will begin from that location at 9 a.m.
