SF State’s College of Business Dean Linda Oubré tapped for top post at Whittier College

San Francisco, CA ― March 26, 2018 ― Linda Oubré, Dean of the College of Business has been named president of Whittier College in Southern California. She will depart San Francisco State University on June 30.

Oubré was appointed dean of the College of Business in July 2012. Since then, she has raised the college’s profile by expanding connections within the Bay Area’s dynamic business community, especially in technology, new media and hospitality.

Under her leadership the college launched a revamped, highly profitable executive MBA; graduate business programs in hospitality and healthcare; a master of science degree in business analytics (slated to begin in fall 2018); and a new MBA in biotechnology.

These and other initiatives have helped grow the college’s graduate enrollment, revenues, fundraising, and—most importantly—enhanced student success and improved graduation rates.

“Linda’s commitment to the College of Business and its faculty and students truly has been an inspiration,” said Interim Provost Jennifer Summit. “I know that all who have had the privilege of working closely with her join me in expressing profound appreciation for her extraordinary leadership and wishing her well as she takes this exciting next step."

An interim dean will soon be named to serve while the University conducts a national search for Oubré’s permanent successor.
