A celebration for the graduating classes will be held at Chase Center

San Francisco State University will hold two separate Commencement ceremonies honoring the classes of 2020 and 2021 at Chase Center in San Francisco on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022.

This will be the first time Chase Center will host the University’s Commencement ceremony. Graduates and their guests have the option of attending a morning ceremony (doors open at 9 a.m.; program begins at 10 a.m.) or one in the late afternoon (doors at 3 p.m.; program at 4 p.m.). Both in-person ceremonies were postponed due to COVID-19. Graduates of both classes were honored with virtual Commencement ceremonies and promised an in-person ceremony when it was safe to gather again.

“We’re looking forward to finally welcoming our 2020 and 2021 graduates and their loved ones for this in-person celebration of their accomplishments and resilience,” said President Lynn Mahoney. “These SF State alumni overcame unimaginable disruptions on their paths to graduation, and we are grateful for this opportunity to come back together and watch them cross the stage.”

More details about the ceremony, including the Commencement speaker, are forthcoming. The University is asking graduates to complete a survey about their Commencement plans by 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5.

Graduates can find information about tickets and regalia on the Commencement website.
