Fall/Winter edition of SF State Magazine now available

People look at rainbows, colors, shapes

The new issue focuses on faculty experts’ hopes for tomorrow while exploring the challenges students face today

Given its never-ending parade of troubling news, 2020 made it hard for many of us to tear our eyes from the grim headlines and look forward to the future. But anticipating, preparing for and building a better future is what a university is all about. That’s why the Fall/Winter 2020 edition of SF State Magazine focuses on the many ways tomorrow will bring good news despite the not-so-great news of today.

In the issue’s lead story, nine faculty experts explain why they’re optimistic about what lies ahead for education, theatre, transit, personal finance, public health and more. Another story profiles the kind of San Francisco State University student who should give us all hope for the future: Wayne Metho, who helped organize life-saving shipments of soap to hundreds of families in Kenya.

But the challenges of today don’t go unexplored. In a remarkable photo essay, SF State student journalists document their lives in pandemic lockdown. The online issue also features stories about the University’s career services for students and alumni and how the College of Science & Engineering is finding innovative ways to offer students world-class research experiences. And as usual the issue includes dozens of updates on recent alumni accomplishments.
