Buildings and Available Spaces

With the return to on-campus teaching and learning for the fall 2021 semester, SF State will continue updating building access protocols to promote the health and safety of our campus community.

We expect all buildings will be open in Fall 2021.

To help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, SF State offers virtual tours. In addition, you can install the SF State mobile app and download the self-guided campus tour map to navigate campus services and buildings. Please note, the curated list of facilities below is listed in the order it is found on the self-guided tour map.

SF State’s plans for reopening are guided by public health information and guidelines. We are proceeding with caution and care to determine courses of action to create safe work and learning environments while also accommodating the anticipated increased number of students, faculty and staff returning to campus for in-person instruction.

Steps for Coming to Campus

Building Access Health Protocols for Summer 2021

  • "Entrance only” and “exit only” doors will be utilized, where possible, in all buildings to reduce face-to-face and bi-directional foot traffic.
  • Should multiple stairways be available in a building, at least one stairway will be designated for people traveling upstairs, and another stairway will be designated for people traveling downstairs to help reduce face-to-face and bi-directional foot traffic.
  • Signage will be posted on all buildings to indicate public health guidelines, including masking and social distancing.
  • Elevators will have signage indicating maximum capacity threshold in accordance with public health guidelines.
  • Building with card-access implemented, including housing and research facilities, will only permit assigned students, faculty and staff into their respective buildings.

To learn more about health protocols, please visit Health and Safety and required steps before coming to campus.

External Visitors to Campus (Effective June 14, 2021)

Outdoor Spaces

Visitors to outdoor spaces must comply with San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) health orders. The campus may exercise its responsibility to control outdoor access if visitors organize and participate in activities subject to the campus’s Time, Place and Manner policy. Outdoor activities organized by SF State must comply with SFDPH health orders and campus protocols for outdoor events and activities.

Indoor Spaces

Visitors to indoor spaces must have a necessary and reasonable purpose for entering buildings. External visitors to campus must visit campus under the direction of a campus faculty or staff member (the visitor’s host).
