SF State a top producer of Asian American graduates in business, education

University ranks high in Diverse Issues in Higher Educationrankings, released this week

SAN FRANCISCO, May 7, 2015 -- San Francisco State University is a top producer of Asian American graduates in business and education, according to rankings published this week in Diverse Issues in Higher Education.

The University ranked second in the nation in awarding bachelor's degrees in education to Asian American students, the highest ranking of any California State University campus. SF State also ranked second in awarding bachelor's degrees in business administration, management and operations to Asian Americans.

In addition, the University ranked:

• 18th in awarding master's degrees in education
• 19th in awarding bachelor's degrees in the social sciences
• 24th in awarding master's degrees in the social sciences
• 49th in awarding bachelor's degrees in engineering

The rankings are based on degrees conferred during the 2012-13 academic year.

SF State has been nationally recognized as a highly diverse campus. Approximately two-thirds of all students enrolled in the fall of 2014 identified as non-white, including 34.8 percent who identified as Asian American, 16.9 percent who identified as Mexican American or Chicano, 8.4 percent who identified as Latino and 5.5 percent who identified as African American.
