SF State named a top college for minority graduates

SAN FRANCISCO, July 9, 2013 -- San Francisco State University was ranked among the top universities in the country for awarding undergraduate degrees to minority students. In a report published by Diverse Issues in Higher Education SF State was ranked 19th nationally, having awarded 2,894 degrees to minority students during the 2011-12 academic year.

In addition to a spot in the top twenty, SF State was also ranked a top college for Asian American, Hispanic, and American Indian students. The University ranked:

·      11th for awarding undergraduate degrees to Asian Americans

·      36th for awarding undergraduate degrees to Hispanics

·      55th for awarding undergraduate degrees to American Indians

Providing access to a highly diverse student body is an important part of SF State’s mission. Nearly 70 percent of SF State students identify as a minority or mixed race, while close to 35 percent of faculty and staff are minorities.
