SF State to return to AT&T Park for 115th Commencement
SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 16, 2015 -- San Francisco State University will once again toast its newest graduates in the heart of the city: The University will hold its 115th Commencement ceremony at AT&T Park for the second year in a row.
The event will take place on May 27, 2016, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The University moved the ceremony to the downtown ballpark in May, after the event outgrew the on-campus Cox Stadium. Last year's ceremony was attended by more than 35,000 graduates, family members and other guests.
"It is fitting that we celebrate the graduates of San Francisco's public university in one of San Francisco's iconic venues," said President Les Wong. "Seeing the ballpark adorned in purple and gold and filled with our remarkable graduating class earlier this year was a truly unforgettable experience, and I'm delighted we will be returning to AT&T Park in 2016 for this important milestone in the lives of our students and their family and friends."
More details about the ceremony, including speakers and honorary degrees, will be announced in the spring and available online at commencement.sfsu.edu.
