SF State leaders to visit historically African American churches on Super Sunday

WHAT: The 15th annual Super Sunday events. California State University (CSU) officials, including leaders from San Francisco State University, will speak at historically African American churches across California and the Bay Area to inform parents and children of the advantages of a college education and how to start planning for college. After the services, parents and students will have the opportunity to talk to CSU representatives and pick up materials about college admissions, the application process and financial aid.

Super Sunday is produced by the CSU African American Initiative, a partnership between CSU campuses and African American religious leaders with the goal of increasing college-going rates among African Americans students.

WHEN: Sunday, Feb. 23. See specific times below for San Francisco locations.

WHERE: San Francisco locations include:

• Third Baptist Church, 1399 McAllister St., San Francisco, CA 94115 at 10 a.m.

• Ingleside Presbyterian Church, 1345 Ocean Ave, San Francisco, CA 94112 at 10:30 a.m.

• Providence Baptist Church, 1601 McKinnon, San Francisco, CA 94124 at 10:45 a.m.

• Interim Chair of Africana Studies Doris Flowers at Ingleside Presbyterian Church

• Interim Vice President of Advancement Venesia Thompson-Ramsey at Providence Baptist Church
