University offers voting and election resources
As the Nov. 3 election nears, the SF State community can find guidance online
Monday, Oct. 19, was the last day to register online or via mail to vote in the Nov. 3 general election. But California residents can register in person as late as the day of the election. More information on in-person registration — as well as on early voting, the necessary identification documents and more — can be found on the website of San Francisco State University’s Division of Student Life.
Those searching for insight into the election’s many candidates, ballot measures and issues can find it via “Political Science 216: The 2020 Presidential Election,” a San Francisco State course and public lecture series. Led by SF State University Political Science Professor Joel Kassiola, the course offers information and context related to the election from a variety of experts. Each class session is open to the public via Zoom. Learn more about the course, or register to watch course sessions on SF State’s Alumni and Friends Community website.
Election information can also be found on the website of the University’s Institute for Civic and Community Engagement. And Associated Students, the student government body at SF State, has also been helping Gators prepare for the election by encouraging voter registration through its Chomp the Vote campaign. The Associated Students Chomp the Vote webpage offers a variety of resources, including registration links and voter guides.
“SF State has long been committed to social and political awareness, and we encourage our students and greater campus community to participate in the 2020 election in November,” said Election and Voter Engagement Coordinator Frances Johnson. “For many of us, voting is personal. Those who came before us fought for our right to vote, and we can continue to honor them by exercising that right.”
