Future Gators: Make the SF State Connection online
Prospective students, families are invited to experience SF State’s offerings digitally
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, San Francisco State University has moved its annual campus open house online. The newly launched Make the SF State Connection website gives future students online access to the University from their device of choice — from cell phone to computer. The new website allows future students to download presentations and watch videos showcasing what they can expect when they start their first semester as Gators. In addition, live Zoom sessions give them the chance to ask current San Francisco State students and staff questions; hear from faculty and academic advisors; and learn about internships, clubs and other on-campus opportunities. There are also specific sessions dedicated to the transfer student experience.
“Decisions on where to go to college are based on the right fit for students and their families and the sense of whether they feel they belong,” said Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management Maria Martinez. “Our online presentations and videos, while not the same as the in-person experience, will give students and their families a taste of SF State. It’s a chance to see the wonderful learning and social opportunities available.”
Future students can peruse the robust collection of content at their own pace by visiting the SF State Connection website. They are encouraged to RSVP for Zoom sessions. The website will be updated regularly with additional content, so keep checking back.
“College choice is an important decision, and we want future Gators to choose SF State as the place where they will invest their energies — intellectual and social — to grow as productive and socially just individuals,” Martinez added.
Interim Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Beth Hellwig says she’s pleased students can experience a bit of SF State virtually. “Our campus community is amazing and represents some of the very finest students, faculty and staff in the country,” she added. “We can’t wait for you to become Gators!”
The deadline for students to accept their admissions offer has been extended to June 1. Have more questions? Email them to enrollmentmanagement@sfsu.edu.
