San Francisco State University cancels classes, closes campus at 5 p.m. Nov. 14 and will remain closed Nov. 15, 16, 17

Due to the devastating Camp fire, the city of San Francisco, including San Francisco State University, is experiencing severe and unhealthy air quality conditions due to the smoke. The health and safety of all students, faculty and staff is the University’s top priority. As such, the University is cancelling classes, effective at 5 p.m. today.

Additionally, the main campus, the Downtown Campus and the Estuary & Ocean Science Center at the Romberg Tiburon Campus will close effective at 5 p.m.  today.  All campuses will remain closed Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15-17, with the exception of residential life, dining services and essential personnel.

Residential life will have staff on 24-hour call and is planning indoor activities for residential students on campus. The Student Health Center will remain open Thursday and Friday and is a distribution center for ventilation masks for students.  Essential personnel and students can get masks during the weekend at the Towers Conference Center front desk.

Faculty and staff will not be required to take personal time on Thursday and Friday due to the campus closure. Responsible administrative units will provide specific resources and information for campus residents and personnel deemed essential by their managers. Decisions about University operations on Monday, Nov. 19 and beyond will be made and communicated this weekend.

Student employees who are scheduled to receive paychecks may pick them up at Annex 1, North State Drive, 94132, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.  on Nov. 15.
