Mashouf Wellness Center to open with ribbon-cutting, reception and fitness demonstrations

SAN FRANCISCO – August 28, 2017 - San Francisco State University will host a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Mashouf Wellness Center tomorrow, Tuesday, Aug. 29 at 12:30 p.m. A reception and a variety of demonstrations guaranteed to get hearts thumping will follow, including a log-rolling competition and yoga, kickboxing, climbing wall, Zumba and belly dancing demonstrations.
The new building at the corner of Lake Merced and Font boulevards has been under construction since the summer of 2015 and represents the first major on-campus construction since The Village at Centennial Square student housing complex was completed in 2001.
The $86.5 million center was funded by student fees and private donations, including a lead gift from Mashouf, founder of the women's fashion brand bebe. The facility will be open to students, staff, faculty and alumni of SF State.
