Media Advisory: SF State to welcome new students
More than 7,000 new freshmen and transfer students will arrive on campus during Welcome Days
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 16, 2016 — San Francisco State University will welcome more than 7,000 new freshmen and transfer students beginning this weekend as part of the University's annual Welcome Days week of activities. Welcome Days gives new students and their families an overview of the SF State community, introducing them to the range of resources available on campus.
Incoming residential students will move onto campus Saturday, August 20. Activities on Monday, Aug. 22, are designed for all incoming students, highlighted by "SF State Welcome: Faces of Community," the University's official welcome event.

WHAT: SF State Move-In Day
WHEN: Saturday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. onward (high volume 10 a.m. to noon)
WHERE: Students and parents will unload cars near the residence halls along Font Boulevard (at Lake Merced Boulevard) and State Drive (at Lake Merced Boulevard) in San Francisco.
WHAT: SF State Welcome Days
WHEN: Monday, Aug. 22, from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.
WHERE: The Quad, San Francisco State University, 1600 Holloway Avenue, San Francisco
HIGHLIGHTS: "SF State Welcome: Faces of Community" is the University's official welcome to incoming students and their families and will be held from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. on the Quad. Speakers will include SF State President Les Wong, Associated Students representative Jordan Thomas and other campus officials. The day will also include panel discussions specifically for new freshmen, transfer students and parents, as well as a barbecue on the Quad featuring food from SF State vendors.
