Hello, new Gators! Campus gets ready to welcome incoming class
New students: SF State is set to welcome you to the campus community with a series of exciting events designed to orient you to life on campus and help you get to know your fellow Gators.
Welcome Days, the University's annual week of activities for incoming freshmen and transfer students, takes place from Aug. 20-25. All new students are expected to attend the events on Aug. 22, which provide them and their families with important information and resources.
Incoming students can RSVP and find a full schedule of events at www.sfsu.edu/~welcome/.
The week kicks off on Saturday, Aug. 20, when the residence halls will open to new students who will be living on campus. Parents and students can also enjoy a barbecue lunch and a panel on the residential experience before saying their maybe-tearful goodbyes. Later that night, students are invited to relax and socialize on the West Campus Green for the annual Movie on the Lawn.
On Monday, Aug. 22, President Les Wong, Associated Students representative Jordan Thomas and other campus officials will officially welcome the newest Gators to campus during the "Faces of Community" event. The day will also include panel discussions specifically for new freshmen, transfer students and parents, as well as a tasty lunch on the quad featuring food from SF State vendors.
In the evening, get to know your fellow Gators at the Student Life Carnival, the Greet a Gator Event in the library and the Student Center Blow Out Bash, which will include a dance party.
Looking for an on-campus job? An On-Campus Employment Fair will take place on the quad on Tuesday, Aug. 23. Classes begin on Wednesday, Aug. 24.
