Application period for fall 2016 is now open

SF State students on campus

SF State recently welcomed its largest incoming class to date.

Those hoping to begin attending San Francisco State University in the fall of 2016 can at last submit their applications: The application period is now open, and the University is expecting another bumper crop of prospective students.

According to Senior Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management Jo Volkert, the University received approximately 56,000 applications for the fall 2015 term -- up more than 3,000 from the previous year. As a result, SF State recently welcomed the largest incoming freshman class in its history: more than 4,200 students. In addition, around 3,700 transfer students also began attending SF State this fall. Since on-campus housing is not guaranteed, and housing is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, new students who hope to live on campus next fall are encouraged to apply for housing when they apply for admission -- and to do both soon.

"Fall 2016 is shaping up to be another trendsetting year for SF State," Volkert said. "Students from counties across California and 106 countries around the world are making plans to join us. They are attracted by the booming economy of the region, the dedication to community service of our students and the academic excellence that make up the SF State experience."

The application period for undergraduates will end November 30. Deadlines for graduate programs vary by department. All applications -- undergraduate, graduate and international -- are submitted through the CSU Mentor website: csumentor.edu.
