Sneak Preview opens campus to thousands
San Francisco State University's Sneak Preview -- an annual open house for prospective students -- is expected to draw thousands of visitors to campus on Saturday, April 4. The annual event showcases SF State's academic strengths and vibrant student life through tours and talks. Information tables will be set up on the main Quad as well as in Malcolm X Plaza, and tours of the campus and virtual tours of student housing will be running throughout the day.
Sneak Preview is open to first-time freshmen, transfer students already admitted for fall 2015, high school students planning for college and their family and friends. Last year, nearly 6,000 prospective SF State students and their guests came to campus for the all-day event, and organizers expect to top that number this year.

"Students and their families enjoy seeing our beautiful campus for themselves on a day devoted to exploration of our programs and services," said Jo Volkert, senior associate vice president for enrollment management. "We hope that they will be able to envision themselves here as a future Gator experiencing the vibrant urban atmosphere of San Francisco and becoming part of our richly diverse student body."
Representatives from a variety of departments and concentrations will introduce their research and curricula through academic showcases and tours. Future students also will have the opportunity to accept offers of admission, discuss financial aid options and learn about new student orientation and the Summer Bridge Program, an eight-week session designed to help students develop smart study habits and transition from high school to university life. In addition, there will be presentations on study abroad programs, community service learning, athletics and other topics, and student organizations will be set up around the West Campus Green to let future students know the many ways they can get involved at SF State.
According to Volkert, there are plenty of people who could use the information: She expects SF State to enroll approximately 3,900 new freshmen and 3,800 new transfers for the 2015-16 academic year.
