Sneak Preview opens campus to admitted students

Students who have been admitted to SF State have the opportunity to get an up-close look at the campus, learn more about academic programs and other resources and accept their admissions offer during the University's annual Sneak Preview Open House April 9.
The event, open to freshmen and transfer students admitted for fall 2016 and their guests, is expected to bring more than 10,000 visitors to campus.
"Sneak Preview is an opportunity for admitted students and their families to visit our beautiful campus and learn more about the services available to help them succeed," said Ree'shemah Thornton, director of Student Outreach Services. "They are able to take campus tours, meet faculty, explore academic programs and, hopefully, envision themselves as members of our diverse student body."
Registration for the event begins at 8 a.m. Morning workshops will focus on the many resources available for SF State students, including financial aid, the Educational Opportunity Program, Undergraduate Advising and the Metro Academies program, which helps students navigate the first two years of college.
Afternoon sessions will focus on academic showcases and department tours. Students who have not yet declared a major will be able to attend any of the college sessions or a workshop titled "Undecided about a Major?" Campus tours will be available all day, and attendees can also enjoy lunch in the residential dining commons.
Students can also accept their admissions offer — the deadline for all admitted students to do so is May 1 — and sign up for summer orientation, a one-day program that offers guidance and resources to help new students get started at SF State.
The University expects to welcome approximately 4,400 new freshmen, 3,700 transfer students and 1,200 new graduate students to campus in fall 2016.
