Media Advisory: SF State's Romberg Tiburon Center hosts Rosenberg Institute Discovery Day Open House, Oct. 13

WHAT:  San Francisco State University's Romberg Tiburon Center for Environmental Studies’ 24th annual Discovery Day Open House, presented by the Rosenberg Institute for Marine Biology & Environmental Science.

The public is invited to a behind-the-scenes look at the scientific research conducted at the only academic marine science lab on San Francisco Bay. Part of this year’s Bay Area Science Festival, Discovery Day features family-friendly exhibits and informal talks in the "Science Café" led by researchers.

Interactive activities include a "research cruise," where guests will have the opportunity to capture plankton for observation under marine lab microscopes. SF State ceramics students will run a clay-making exhibit, and children of all ages can enjoy the marine creature touch-tanks, art activities and sea stories from the Tiburon Library.   

Admission and parking for bikes and cars is free with RSVP on Eventbrite.

The Romberg Tiburon Center for Environmental Studies (RTC) is San Francisco State University's marine field station located 30 minutes north of San Francisco on the Tiburon Peninsula. SF State scientists pursue their research in laboratories at the Center, at field sites around the world, and through collaborations with colleagues at other universities and institutions. The Center provides SF State students with graduate- and undergraduate-level courses as well as practical research experience.
