Media Advisory: SF State Forum on Reducing Gun Violence on March 4
WHAT: SF State will hold a forum titled "Reducing Gun Violence: Policies that Work," which will include a panel discussion among national experts, government officials and academics. They will discuss effective policies that can make a difference not only in mass shootings, but in the gun violence that occurs every day in communities nationwide. The event will be attended by members of the campus community and the general public, and is sponsored by the University's Institute for Civic and Community Engagement and the Criminal Justice Studies Program.
WHO: Speakers include:
- Jim Dudley, deputy chief (Ret.) of the Special Operations Bureau, San Francisco Police Department
- Juliet Leftwich, legal director at the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence
- A representative from the office of state Assemblywoman Nancy Skinner (D-Berkeley)
- University President Les Wong
