Earthquake Update
The following e-mail was sent to the campus community on Aug. 24, 2014:
Dear students, parents, faculty and staff:
The Bay Area’s early morning earthquake was certainly a surprise. While a jolt to all of us, I am pleased to report that initial inspections assure us our campus did not sustain any damage or injuries. With core administrators and facilities staff, I inspected the campus this morning and we are monitoring on an ongoing basis.
In the event of a serious campus-wide emergency, SF State deploys a telephone/text/e-mail emergency alert system and posts updates to the University website. I urge our new students to visit http://www.sfsu.edu/~upd/emergency/emergency-notification.html and enroll in the alert system, and encourage existing students, faculty and staff to ensure their contact information is complete and up to date.
Should you note any irregularities with the physical plant, please contact the Facilities Services hotline at (415) 338-1568. If you encounter an emergency situation of any type, please contact University Police Department at 911 or (415) 338-2222.
This is a sobering reminder to stay up to date with emergency preparedness. I urge you to take some time today to visit our emergency preparedness website http://www.sfsu.edu/~upd/emergency/index2.html for a refresher on earthquake preparedness and responses, and to ensure you are enrolled in and up to date with the campus emergency alert system.
Les Wong,
President
