United Support for Booster Requirement

Dear colleagues,

As we find ourselves again dealing with a variant-driven rise in COVID-19 infections across the country, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) have taken the step of recommending boosters for those who are eligible.

This guidance along with the CSU’s recent decision to implement a COVID-19 booster requirement during the spring semester has inspired us to declare our united support for this updated policy and encourage our community to get booster shots as soon as you are eligible. Details about how SF State will implement the CSU policy are not yet available. We encourage all, though, to get their booster shots as soon as you are eligible to protect your health and the health of your loved ones.

As with the fall semester, we recognize that everyone’s situation is different. There are campus community members who are unable to be vaccinated for medical or religious reasons. SF State has established protocols to qualify for that status. And these exemptions continue to deepen the importance that those who can remain current with booster shots do so to protect one another, the elderly, immunocompromised individuals and young children.

Once again, we are partnering with a local pharmacy to offer booster shots on campus. Appointments may be scheduled online. But the number of appointments we can offer on campus is naturally limited. If you are unable to find an appointment on campus, please locate one on MyTurn.ca.gov

Our campus has remained one of the safest in the nation during this public health crisis. If we continue to prepare together, we believe it will continue to be so.
