SF State Closed Due to Air Quality

Dear campus community,

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is reporting air quality conditions which are very unhealthy in the city and county of San Francisco. All in-person classes and campus activities on all campuses, including Downtown and Tiburon, are canceled for Friday, September 11.

Virtual courses will be held today. Only essential services and offices remain open.

People with heart or lung disease such as asthma, children and older adults avoid all outdoor exertion. Everyone should limit outdoor exertion.

For student residents and others who must remain on campus, a supply of KN95 particulate masks is available for voluntary use. Students living on campus may visit your residence hall’s community desk to pick up a mask. Faculty and staff on campus may go to Environment, Health and Safety located in ADM 260 to pick up a mask 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. Close windows where possible to keep smoke out of buildings.

Air quality conditions may be viewed on AirNow.gov. We will continue updating the SF State News site as new information becomes available.

Further updates will be shared as necessary.
