Message from President Wong: This week's tragic events
Dear SF State Community,
Today, yet again, we stand in mourning and in solidarity with the communities who have been impacted this week by the incidents of violence that occurred in Louisiana, Minnesota and Texas.
I am reminded of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s wise words, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” We must direct our collective energy toward meaningful conversations and action in pursuit of eradicating senseless violence, ending racism and fostering peace.
While we hope incidents of violence never occur on our campus, we should all be prepared. Visit the University Police Department’s website to learn more about ways to stay safe on campus.
For faculty and staff who may need support during this time, I encourage you to take advantage of the University’s Employee Assistance Program through LifeMatters. Call (800) 367-7474 for a professional counselor 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Les Wong
President
