University magazine is best in the West
SF State Magazine has received its second consecutive Gold Circle of Excellence Award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education's (CASE) District VII, which includes colleges and universities in the western United States.
Judges evaluated the last two issues of SF State Magazine, which featured cover stories about University President Les Wong and a pair of alums who create art and make wine at Charter Oak Winery. These issues were judged on a range of criteria including content, layout and design, creativity, innovation and effective use of resources.
The Gold Award is the highest honor bestowed by CASE, one of the largest nonprofit education associations. The Gold Award for "College and University General Interest Magazines with a Circulation of 75,000 or more" is given to superior magazines sent to alumni and other external audiences.
Since its inaugural issue in 2000, the University's twice-yearly magazine has earned seven Awards of Excellence from CASE District VII.
