Main campus power restored

Malcom X Plaza

Full operations resume Dec. 1 at 8 a.m., facilities staff continue regular schedules

5:30 p.m.

Power has been restored to the University’s main campus. The outage was the result of a power failure with Pacific Gas & Electric.

The University will resume normal business operations on Dec. 1 at 8 a.m. However, facilities staff should continue with their normal schedules.

3:24 p.m.

This afternoon at 1 p.m. the campus suffered a power outage of unknown cause. We are working with PG&E to restore power at this time. However, since there is currently no clear estimate for power restoration, we are closing the campus effective 3 p.m.  All main campus classes are cancelled for the rest of today and this evening, as well as co-curricular activities. Residence halls and the Downtown Campus remain open.

There are no health and safety concerns in buildings other than Thornton Hall, which has been evacuated and locked down. Essential personnel may need to remain available and should check in with their supervisors before exiting campus.
